In the business world, building connections
is key. The fashion blogging industry is
no different.
As we continue to browse fashion blogs and
their location on the web we’ve come to notice that the more successful, well-known
blogs are often united on one platform with other fashion blogs. They still exist separately to one another
with their own online personalities but they all share the same online
publisher.
These online platforms enable a number of
fashion blogs to be accessed from one site.
They also play a significant role in assisting bloggers to increase
their exposure, traffic and reputation, which is particularly important in the
online fashion world given the overwhelming amount of content available.
Take the blog Garry Pepper Vintage for instance.
The blog is published on FELLT along with various other blogs including K is for Kani, Shine by Three, Tuula, Harper & Harley, Oracle Fox, Studded Hearts and
Zanita. This means that readers who view the blog Tuula via the website FELLT, will also
see the latest post by Nicole Warne from Garry
Pepper Vintage.

It is important to note though that each
blog still maintains its own fashion personality The platform merely acts to
facilitate interaction and content sharing and encourage growth of both the
blogger and their audience.
Another publishing platform Alphie & Eve is composed of the
blogs Tickled Pink, Watermeloncrush, DJ
Tigerlilly, Rachinald, Tobruck Ave and Unknown
Pleasures. The platform states that
each blogger is “handpicked for their unique style and powerful impact in their
niche market…” The company says that to
get your blog out there requires liaising with designers, media and PR
companies. They say this is only possible
when a number of high quality blogs combine.

These platforms are fashion networks. A way
for bloggers to build connections.
However if this is one contributing factor
in establishing an online personality, how do you get your blog to be published
on one of these platforms? How do these online
publishing platforms choose certain fashion bloggers to appear as part of their
blogging collective?
And what do these publishing platforms add
to the blog? How do they contribute to the blog’s status?
